Have you ever thought to yourself, “If not now, when?” or “Why not now?” Today’s episode is about just that. Carolyn Penner seized an opportunity to explore her passion for drama while taking a year off from her “real world job” to travel with “Up With People.”
There are times when you have to look fear in the face, or maybe that “well-meaning” family member or friend, and just say “why not now?” If you have a passion in an area that doors seem to open up for and you feel the Lord leading you through, then go for it! Even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else but you.
Carolyn majored in Theater, so of course, when she graduated, she continued her job at Home Depot. She talks us through her transition from her job at Home Depot to her decision to travel with Up With People and the relationships she still has with that group 20+ years later.
But before we chat about traveling, we do laugh a bit… about:

I just finished listening to the podcast on Carolyn Penner and it was Great! I really enjoyed listening to Carolyn’s and Tiffany’s stories of the service desk at Home Depot! I had no idea about Carolyn going with up with people until after she was gone from Home Depot. If I would have known I would have helped her out money wise! I am really proud of her for following that dream. I loved all the kids that worked at that store, they just didn’t know it! LOL
Thanks for listening, Robin! I am glad you enjoyed this episode and thrilled you shared your story with us–April (TOL)
Hey, Robin! I am just now finding some comments from previous episodes, so I’m sorry that I am just now responding. Thanks for listening to Carolyn’s story! I’m so glad that you enjoyed it! Don’t worry! We knew that you loved us, and we loved you too! You were an amazing worker and mentor, and we always knew that we could count on you. (No pun intended) However, I will say that it’s your fault that I can’t have any of my bills facing the wrong direction in my wallet. ? I love it though + reminds me of you every time.❤️ We have SO MANY great memories of working together that I will cherish forever. Such a great team and lifetime of friends. You don’t find that just anywhere. We had a great thing going. Love to you! Hope you’re doing well!
